journey to the west (kinda?)

finally back to civilisation two days ago. came back from tibet...

went on 10th of may. took an afternoon flight and arrived in Chengdu during the first day. Chengdu is in the Sichuan province and is quite a normal cityish city. after shopping in their main street, went back hotel and rest for the night.
the restaurant tat we ate in Chengdu

Their main shopping street

Hotel that we stayed in. notice the shower is exposed one loh. only the middle part of the glass is frosted. so i showered in the bathtub lol.

After the night in Chengdu, we took the morning flight to Lhasa, Tibet. Lhasa is one of the 6 cities of Tibet and the most populated i tink... the altitude there is 3650metres above sea level. Singapore's bukit timah hill only 165m above sea level nia... so this means Lhasa has low oxygen level (ard 40-60% of sea level's oxygen content).

Low oxygen= headache, nausea, nosebleed, insomnia... when i went there, it was horrible... at first nth much. but when we reach Potala Palace, the place where generations of Dalai Lama lived (not anymore, the 14th Dalai Lama ran to India liao). We were the last group to visit the palace, so the ppl there hurried us using a rude tone.. anyways, climb one flight of stairs alr wan my life liao... the lack of oxygen became real obvious there... heavy breathing... headache... fingernails turned 100% purple... wth... and all to see statues of dalai lamas, budhha etc... most of my dad's fren complaining why the stupid schedule make us climb before we even adapt to the sea level..

Dinner that night was horrible for me... as i ate some oily mushrooms in the afternoon, after we return from potala palace, i went back to the hotel with major headache and puked out lunch. and right before dinner, i puked out somemore... dinner i had one small slice of char siew and two bowls of porridge... felt like wan to die like tat... no appetite.. might as well kill me....

Lhasa Airport

Exit=Export?

Potala Palace. Imagine u hv to climb this after waking up 5+am in the morning and take plane. Climb to the top somemore with lack of oxygen...

hotel in Lhasa, supposedly 5*...

typical building in Lhasa. reminder: Lhasa is already the most advanced city in Tibet liao. and it looks like this.... Buildings in Lhasa cannot be taller than the Potala Palace as a sign of respect or something...
dam lazy to blog any further... i tink juz upload pics and describe them bah...

This temple is the aim for devotees to visit in Tibet. There is a Si Jia Mo Ni statue that was carved out hen he was 12 yrs old and was supposed to look like him. some tibetian from faraway village will send one representative to walk 3 steps then kneel followed by lie flat on the floor to the temple. they walk and pray at the same time. totally by foot. some of them take one year or more to reach the temple.
